We Understand — Built by Veterans, for Veterans
Your Reality: What Service Left Behind
Military service creates unique physical and mental challenges that civilian healthcare often doesn't fully understand. Here's what we hear from veterans who walk through our doors and what we know from our personal experience:
- Chronic Pain That Won't Quit: Knees that sound like gravel. Backs that seized up during the first deployment and never fully recovered. Shoulders destroyed by carrying combat loads.
- Sleep That Evades You: Hypervigilance doesn't have an off switch. The nervous system that kept you alive in combat zones now won't let you rest. You're exhausted but wired, tired but can't sleep.
- TBI Effects That Linger: Whether from blast exposure, training accidents, or combat, traumatic brain injuries create ongoing cognitive challenges — brain fog, memory issues, difficulty concentrating — that impact daily life.
- PTSD and Stress That Never Fully Releases: The memories. The triggers. The constant low-grade anxiety.
The Gap
The VA does important work, but appointment wait times can stretch for months. Primary care providers often lack training in the specific physical demands of military service. Physical therapy appointments are limited and don't address the whole picture. And medication-first approaches treat symptoms without addressing root causes.
Meanwhile, civilian wellness centers don't understand why a 35-year-old walks like they're 60. They don't get that your nervous system is different, that your injuries have different origins, that your needs require different solutions.
The Bridge
Sisu Longevity Studio exists because we understand the gap — and we've built a bridge across it. Veteran-owned. Professional-grade equipment. No referrals. Walk in when you need it.

Sample recovery Protocols
How you use Sisu depends on your schedule, your goals, and your current condition. Here are four pathways veterans commonly follow:
These are common usage patterns, not medical prescriptions. For service-connected injuries or conditions, coordinate with your healthcare provider.
The Quick Reset (30-60 Minutes)
Best for: Busy days when you need maximum impact in minimum time
- 15 minutes Sauna (detox, warm-up)
- 3 minutes Cold Plunge (inflammation reduction, mental reset)
- 30 minutes Red Light (cellular energy, tissue support)
Result: Reduced inflammation, improved mood, mental clarity — all in under an hour
The Deep Recovery (90-135 Minutes)
Best for: Comprehensive recovery days when you can invest the time
- 30 minutes PEMF (pain reduction, cellular repair)
- 45 minutes Contrast Therapy (3 rounds sauna/cold)
- 30 minutes Compression (recovery, circulation)
- 30 minutes Red Light (finish with cellular support)
Result: Full-body recovery, significant pain reduction, improved sleep that night
The Weekly Ritual
Best for: Establishing a sustainable wellness routine
- Monday: PEMF + Contrast (start week with pain management)
- Wednesday: AlterG + Compression (movement and recovery)
- Friday: Float + Vibroacoustic (end week with nervous system reset)
- Daily (at home): Mobility exercises from our programming
Result: Progressive improvement in pain, sleep, mental clarity, and overall function
The TBI/Cognitive Support Protocol (8-12 Weeks)
Best for: Veterans seeking focused support for brain health and cognitive function
- HBOT: 2-3 sessions per week (typicaly 20-40 sessions depending on your individual response)
- Float: 1 session per week (nervous system support)
- Red Light: 3-5 sessions per week (neurological support)
- Mobility: 2 sessions per week (physical foundation)
Result: Many veterans report significant improvements in cognitive clarity, memory, focus, and reduced brain fog after completing the protocol

The Sisu Advantage — Why Us
For Veterans Specifically
- Veteran-Owned and Operated: We understand the unique physical and mental demands of service because we’ve lived them. No explanation needed — you’re among those who get it.
- No Referrals or Prescriptions: Access professional-grade recovery technology on your schedule, not a bureaucratic timeline. Walk in when you need it.
- Non-Clinical Environment: This isn’t a medical facility — it’s a wellness sanctuary. No hospital smell, no waiting rooms, no clipboards. Just a warm, welcoming space designed for recovery.
- Community of Shared Experience: Dedicated veteran programming means you’ll recover alongside others who understand. Sometimes the best therapy is simply being with people who don’t need explanations.
The Colorado Springs Context
Colorado Springs is one of the most veteran-friendly cities in America, with five major military installations and over 80,000 veterans calling it home. Our location in Victory Ridge, north Colorado Springs, positions us at the heart of this community.
- Active Community: Whether you’re hiking Pikes Peak, training for your next challenge, or simply maintaining the active lifestyle that defines Colorado Springs, recovery is essential.
- Military Base Proximity: Convenient to Fort Carson, Peterson SFB, Schriever SFB, and the Air Force Academy — accessible for both active duty and veterans throughout the region.
Equipment & Expertise
- Only Hard-Shell HBOT in Colorado Springs: Our Oxygen Health Systems chamber achieves 1.5-2.0 ATA — significantly higher than soft-sided chambers — delivering more oxygen to tissues.
- Only AlterG Without Medical Referral: The same anti-gravity treadmill technology used by professional sports teams, accessible without jumping through healthcare hoops.
- Professional-Grade PEMF: Pulse PEMF systems — the same equipment used in clinical settings — available for self-directed recovery.
- Commercial-Capacity Cold Plunge: ColdTub Polarplunge accommodating 8-12 people — designed for group experiences in the Nordic tradition.
Veteran Transformation
While Sisu Longevity Studio opens in June 2026, these transformation scenarios represent the experiences we anticipate based on clinical research and similar facilities:
The Infantry Veteran: From Chronic Pain to Active Again
The Situation: After 12 years of infantry service with multiple deployments, carrying heavy loads across rough terrain, this veteran’s knees, back, and shoulders are constant sources of pain. Daily ibuprofen, limited mobility, and the resignation that “this is just how it is now.”
The Protocol: PEMF therapy 3x/week targeting affected joints, Contrast therapy 2x/week for systemic inflammation reduction, AlterG 2x/week to rebuild cardio and leg strength without impact, Mobility classes 2x/week to address movement patterns.
The Transformation: After 8 weeks, pain levels drop significantly. Ibuprofen use decreases. At week 12, running again on the AlterG at 70% body weight. At month 6, hiking with the kids without dreading the aftermath.
The Combat Veteran: Finding Peace After the Fight
The Situation: Multiple combat deployments left more than physical scars. PTSD symptoms, hypervigilance, broken sleep, difficulty focusing at work. Talk therapy helps but doesn’t fully address the physical aspects of trauma stored in the body.
The Protocol: Float therapy 2x/week for nervous system reset, Vibroacoustic therapy 2x/week for deep relaxation, Contrast therapy 2x/week — using cold exposure to practice nervous system regulation, HBOT 2x/week for brain health support.
The Transformation: First major improvement: sleep. Within 4 weeks, sleeping through the night for the first time in years. Anxiety baseline decreased. The cold plunge became a regular practice in facing controlled stress — building confidence that carries into other areas of life. At month 3, presence with family improved dramatically.
The Blast Exposure Veteran: Clearing the Fog
The Situation: Multiple concussive events during service — IEDs, breaching, training incidents. Now struggling with brain fog, memory issues, difficulty concentrating. Career progression stalled because cognitive function isn’t what it used to be.
The Protocol: HBOT intensive protocol: 40 sessions over 12 weeks (3x/week), Float therapy 1x/week for additional recovery, Red Light therapy 5x/week (neurological support), Functional training 2x/week (physical foundation).
The Transformation: Week 4: subtle improvement in mental clarity. Week 8: significant reduction in brain fog, improved recall. Week 12: performance at work improves noticeably — colleagues asking what changed. Continued maintenance protocol 1x/week preserves gains.
RESEARCH SUPPORT
Studies suggest hyperbaric oxygen therapy may improve cognitive function in veterans with TBI. A 2022 randomized controlled trial published in Scientific Reports found significant improvements in neurocognitive function following HBOT protocols in post-COVID patients, with similar mechanisms applicable to TBI recovery. (Efrati et al., 2022)
Float therapy research indicates significant anxiolytic effects, with one study showing reduced anxiety in participants after single sessions. (Feinstein et al., PLOS ONE, 2018).

Frequently Asked Questions
Safety & Medical Questions
Do I need a referral or prescription to use your services?
No. Sisu Longevity Studio is a wellness facility, not a medical clinic. You can access all our modalities without referrals, prescriptions, or prior authorization. We offer professional-grade recovery technology on your schedule.
I have PTSD. Is floatation therapy safe for me?
Many veterans with PTSD find float therapy beneficial, but individual responses vary. Our float rooms (not enclosed pods) allow you to control the environment — you can leave lights on, keep the door open, or exit anytime. We recommend starting with a shorter session and gradually increasing. Our team understands veteran-specific concerns and can help customize your experience.
Are your services covered by TRICARE or VA benefits?
Currently, our services are not covered by TRICARE or VA benefits as we are a wellness facility rather than a medical provider. However, HSA/FSA funds may be applicable for certain modalities. We’re also working with VSO partners to develop subsidized access programs for veterans in need.
I have injuries from service. Are these treatments safe for me?
Most of our modalities are gentle and non-invasive, but some have contraindications. During your first visit, we’ll review your situation and identify which modalities are most appropriate. Certain conditions (active infections, some cardiac conditions, pregnancy) may require modifications or restrictions. When in doubt, we err on the side of caution.
Time & Commitment Questions
Is your HBOT chamber different from the soft-sided chambers I've seen elsewhere?
Yes, significantly. Our Oxygen Health Systems hard-shell chamber achieves 1.5-2.0 ATA pressure — roughly twice what soft-sided chambers can deliver. This higher pressure drives more oxygen into tissues, which may enhance benefits for conditions like TBI. We’re the only wellness facility in Colorado Springs offering hard-shell HBOT.
How soon will I notice results?
It depends on the modality and your goals. Contrast therapy often provides immediate relief — many feel noticeably better after their first session. PEMF typically shows results within 2-4 weeks of consistent use. HBOT protocols for cognitive benefits usually require 8-40 sessions to see significant changes. Float therapy benefits often compound over multiple sessions as you learn to relax more deeply.
How does the AlterG help with knee/back injuries?
The AlterG uses differential air pressure to reduce your body weight by up to 80% while walking or running. This means you can exercise at a fraction of normal impact — a 200-pound veteran can exercise at 40 pounds of effective body weight. This allows cardiovascular training and gait rehabilitation without the impact that aggravates existing injuries.
What's the time commitment for meaningful results?
Most veterans see meaningful improvement with 2-3 sessions per week over 4-8 weeks. Maintenance often requires just 1-2 sessions weekly. The Elevate membership includes 8 core sessions plus premium service discounts — enough for a solid weekly routine with room to add intensive modalities when needed.
I'm nervous about trying new things. How do I start?
Start with contrast therapy. It’s familiar (sauna and cold water), immediately rewarding, and introduces you to our environment and team. Book a Veteran Introduction session — we’ll take care of the rest. No pressure, no judgment, just support for wherever you are in your wellness journey.
