The Gap: Why Traditional Self-Care Hasn't Worked
The spa requires a whole afternoon you don't have. The gym feels like another obligation. Meditation apps get interrupted by small voices asking for snacks. And "me time" keeps getting pushed to "someday."
How Sisu Fills the Gap
We've designed our studio around the reality of your life. Sessions as short as 20 minutes deliver real results. No appointments needed for many services. Drop off the kids and reset before pickup. Early morning slots for before the chaos starts. A warm, welcoming space that feels like a recovery space, not a clinical facility.

Moms Like You
Postpartum recovery hit harder than expected. She comes to Sisu for contrast therapy, float and Training Lab sessions — rebuilding strength on her own schedule between school drop-offs. Not trying to get back to where she was. Building something stronger.
Joins for the contrast and float therapy. Stays for the community. The moms who come to Sisu get each other — the schedule juggling, the guilt, the never-ending to-do list. She came for recovery. She found her people.
Running on empty. Nothing left at the end of the day. She comes to Sisu because she realized she can’t pour from an empty cup — and 30 minutes of recovery isn’t selfish. It’s the thing that makes everything else work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this safe if I'm pregnant or nursing?
Many of our modalities are suitable during pregnancy and nursing, though we always recommend consulting your healthcare provider first. Halotherapy, red light therapy, compression therapy, and vibroacoustic therapy are generally considered safe options. Our team can help you create a personalized pregnancy-safe protocol tailored to each trimester.
A Note on Sauna During Pregnancy:
At Sisu, our contrast therapy is rooted in centuries of Finnish tradition—and in Finland, sauna has always been part of pregnancy, not separate from it. Historically, Finnish women gave birth in saunas, a practice that continued well into the 1940s. The sauna was chosen not just for its warmth, but because it was considered the cleanest and most sterile space in the home—a sacred environment for bringing new life into the world.
This tradition continues today: research from the University of Helsinki found no increased risk to the unborn when sauna is practiced in moderation, and approximately 98% of pregnant Finnish women continue their sauna practice throughout pregnancy. Finnish mothers simply adjust their heat exposure based on how they feel—listening to their bodies rather than abandoning the tradition entirely. After birth, Finnish infants are typically introduced to the sauna within their first six months of life, continuing a cycle that has connected generations for over two thousand years.
While American medical guidance tends toward caution with heat exposure, the Finnish experience offers a compelling perspective: sauna, when approached mindfully and in moderation, has been safely integrated into pregnancy for centuries. If you’re interested in continuing or beginning sauna practice during pregnancy, we encourage you to discuss it with your OB-GYN so you can make an informed decision together.
A Note on Cold Plunge During Pregnancy:
Unlike sauna, cold plunge during pregnancy requires more caution and research is more limited. The primary concern is that cold water immersion causes vasoconstriction (blood vessel narrowing), which may temporarily reduce blood flow to the placenta. For this reason, most experts recommend pregnant women avoid traditional cold plunge, particularly during the first trimester when fetal development is most critical.
If you and your healthcare provider determine that some cold exposure is appropriate for you, experts suggest: keeping water temperatures moderate (above 54°F/12°C rather than ice-cold), limiting sessions to just a few minutes, avoiding cold exposure during the first trimester, and never plunging alone. Some women find that simply cooling their legs or feet provides relief from pregnancy swelling without full immersion.
For pregnant members, we’re happy to offer contrast therapy alternatives—such as using the sauna followed by a cool (not cold) shower—or to focus your sessions on our many pregnancy-friendly modalities. Please consult with your OB-GYN before any contrast therapy during pregnancy, and let our team know so we can support you appropriately.
How quickly will I see results?
Many moms notice immediate effects from contrast therapy and float sessions—better sleep that night, improved mood. Cumulative benefits like reduced chronic pain, sustained energy, and cognitive clarity typically develop over 4-8 weeks of consistent use.
What if I can only come once a week?
Once weekly still provides meaningful benefits. We’d recommend choosing a high-impact modality like float therapy or contrast therapy for your weekly session and maximizing the value of that time.
Do you offer childcare or kid-friendly options?
We don’t have on-site childcare. Our salt room welcomes kids of all ages with a parent present, and children 8+ can float with parent supervision. Many moms use the school-drop-off window or early morning slots. Sessions are 20-90 minutes — shorter than most childcare needs.
Sauna with Children: A Finnish Family Tradition
In Finland, sauna is fundamentally a family experience. Approximately 70% of Finnish children have their first sauna experience during infancy, and weekly family sauna sessions are a cherished tradition that has continued for centuries. Finnish sauna culture, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, has always included children as natural participants.
At Sisu, we honor this tradition. Our sauna is designed with tiered benches, and the lower bench maintains a significantly cooler temperature than the upper benches—typically around 140°F (60°C) compared to 175°F+ (80°C+) at the top. This makes the lower bench ideal for children and those new to sauna bathing. Finnish guidelines suggest children enjoy shorter sessions of 5-10 minutes on the lower bench, always under parental supervision.
Is this covered by insurance or HSA/FSA?
Most services qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement with proper documentation. Traditional health insurance typically doesn’t cover wellness services, but some flexible spending accounts do. We provide the necessary receipts for reimbursement submissions.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, casual clothing works for most sessions. Float therapy can be done nude or in swimsuit in a private room. Contrast therapy requires a swimsuit or other appropriate sauna wear.
How does pricing work? Is it affordable?
We offer single sessions, session packs, and memberships at multiple tiers. Visit our membership page for current pricing, or ask during your tour — we’ll help you find the right fit.
I feel guilty taking time for myself. How do I get past that?
This is the most common concern we hear, and we understand it deeply. But here’s the truth: Your family needs you at your best. This is how you get there.
What if I'm not sure which services are right for me?
That’s exactly what your first visit consultation is for. We’ll ask about your specific challenges and goals, then recommend a personalized starting point. There’s no pressure to commit—just helpful guidance.
How do I actually make this a habit?
Start by booking a recurring time slot that works with your schedule—maybe the school pickup window or early morning before chaos begins. Treat it like any other non-negotiable appointment. Our membership structure is designed to make regular visits sustainable and valuable.
